Recently, over a 17 day period between
washdays, I wore my hair 4 different ways, without needing to comb once. Goals,
anyone? Haha! I’m all about simple, cute hairstyles that are low maintenance.
Apart from the obvious benefits of saving
time and money/energy on styling, when you wear low maintenance and low
manipulation styles, you fuss with your hair less. Less fuss means the hair is
just doing its thing jeje, so it’s not exposed to tearing, or breakage.
Yeah, so about these styles… here’s how it
went down.
Style 1: Flat Twist Updo
I initially considered doing “all back”
with flat twists like I did in this juicy style post here. I changed my mind
later on to this flat twist updo I found on Pinterest because it looked more
interesting.
The good people at K.L’s Natural Beauty Bar
in Dolphin Estate hooked me up one Tuesday afternoon, during my lunch break. No
extensions were added, and I was super happy with the results. Just in case
you’re wondering, I paid 4000 Naira to style.

For maintenance, I didn’t want to encourage
the chunky twists in front to shrink, so I did not spritz my hair at all. Every
few days, I just oiled my scalp. When the chunky twists started looking a
little somehow after 10 days, I had to come up with Style 2.
Style 2: Flat Twist Updo with Curly Twist Bangs
I loosened the chunky twists in front and
twisted my hair dry with the Midas Naturals L.O.C butter. Afterwards, I rolled
the ends of the twists with perm rods.
The plan was to have a lovely twist and
curl for the weekend, but after taking down the rods, I found the twists to be
SO nicely curled and pretty enough to rock on their own, and so I did. What do
you think?
Style 3: Curly Bangs and a Bun
I loosened the flat twists at the back,
leaving the 3 little ones on the side and pulled my hair up into a tiny bun.
Then, I took down the twists in front and held them down with a bobby pin.
Here’s what this looked like at the end of the day:
Style 4: The next day, I pinned up the
curly bangs as some sort of mini pompadour but I kept the bun. Sorry, I don’t
have photos of this, but I hope you get the idea? I was much too tired when I
got home that night!
What do you think of these styles? How do
you like to style your hair to the office? Would you try them? Do you want to
see more work style inspiration? Let me know!
